This might be the last chance to save the unique habitat of Kresna Gorge in Bulgaria, and stop the illegal construction of the motorway.
The Save Kresna campaign needs help to raise funds to support legal activities to stop this destructive project once and for all. You can find more information and donate here (BG).
For nearly three decades, Save Kresna Coalition (bringing together environmentalists, biologists, and NGOs, including our Bulgarian member group Za Zemiata)have been fighting against the construction of motorway through the Kresna Gorge in Bulgaria, which would have severe consequences to the environment and local livelihoods.
Currently, there are three ongoing lawsuits to ensure compliance with environmental legislation and to push for a new environmental assessment. The next court hearing is scheduled for the 25th of March 25, 2025. The donations will help pay for the court case fees.
The Bulgarian institutions would impose a minimum of €15,000 fee if the court cases are lost. The Save Kresna campaign organisers have put a target of €5,000, to at least have part of these fees covered.
