Friends of the Earth Europe stands in solidarity with the population of Japan and our colleagues at Friends of the Earth Japan, following the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami, and offer our sincerest sympathies and condolences to those who have lost loved ones. We remain concerned about the fate of the thousands still missing.
We also express deep concerns about the worsening situation at the Fukushima nuclear power station, and support authorities in doing everything they can to prevent the immeasurable damage to people, the environment and the local ecosystem that further radioactive leaks, or a potential melt-down will cause.
Magda Stoczkiewicz, director of Friends of the Earth Europe says: “Friends of the Earth Europe stands in solidarity with the victims of the catastrophic earthquake and tsunami in Japan. And we share the fears of those watching in dismay as the situation worsens at the Fukushima nuclear power plant.”
“We support the Japanese authorities in doing everything they can to prevent the immeasurable damage to people, the environment and the local ecosystem that further radioactive leaks, or melt-down will cause.”
