Corporate accountability
Rights for people, rules for business.
Every day, big corporations harm people’s lives and the environment around the world, often through their subsidiaries, subcontractors and suppliers.
Existing laws do not prevent this or hold companies accountable, and in many cases, victims do not have access to justice. They also might be threatened or oppressed.
We want the EU to support the United Nations process for a binding treaty for businesses in relation to human rights.
EU-based companies are a big part of the problem. We also campaign to make the EU introduce laws to hold European companies legally accountable and liable for any harm they cause around the world. Non-EU citizens harmed in this way should be able to get access to justice in EU courts.
