Amigos de la Tierra/Friends of the Earth Spain undertook this report which looks at the separate collection of biowaste in six different cities and municipalities in Spain. A survey of 40 questions was carried out, including demographic characteristics, amounts and types of collected biowaste, collection and treatment options used, costs, products sold and production process, emissions and carbon footprint information and jobs created. Some key findings include that community and door-to-door composting models which involve greater citizen participation, result in the best quality material for compost at a lower economic cost.
