Friends of the Earth France (Les Amis de la Terre) today launched their new website. Founded in 1970, Friends of the Earth France was one of the founding members of Friends of the Earth International, now the world’s largest grassroots environmental network. Friends of the Earth France is itself a network of 30 self-contained local groups from all over the country.
The new website has been completely redesigned to be simpler and more accessible, providing plenty of information on environmental and social issues. More prominence than before is given to Friends of the Earth France’s missions and values, as well as its vision for sustainable societies. There is also a section on the history of the organisation.
Speaking about the launch of their new website, Martine Laplante, President of Friends of the Earth France said: “Our wish is certainly to inform about environmental issues but also to question the political and economic mechanisms at the origin of environmental and social abuse.”
The new website is designed to make it easier for supporters to get involved, with lots of opportunities to sign up or join actions, as well as news of successful campaigns like those against shale gas exploration in France and the Notre Dame des Landes airport.
Friends of the Earth France’s regular magazine, La Baleine, France’s first environmental magazine, will also be available online.
