Friends of the Earth Europe (FoEE) campaigns at the heart of Europe for sustainable and just societies and for the protection of the environment. We are the largest grassroots environmental network in Europe, uniting 32 national organisations with thousands of local groups as part of Friends of the Earth International. Our vision is of a peaceful and sustainable world, founded on social, economic, racial, gender and environmental justice and free from all forms of domination and exploitation.
As part of its Justice is Everybody Business campaign, FOEE is organising a European Justice tour in September and October 2023, taking a giant inflatable statue from country to country. Here is a list of potential countries to be included in the tour: Belgium, France, Spain, Germany, Austria, Luxembourg, Slovenia and Poland. We are looking for an experienced logistics coordinator to drive the materials needed for the different actions in Europe and support national groups to set up the stunts.
The logistics coordinator will contribute to the project in accordance with the following timeline: September 4th to October 18th, with the possibility of contract extension.
Key responsibilities
- Drive the equipment needed to organise the various events, which includes: a 10 meters inflatable prop, equipments needed to secure the inflatable, a generator, banners & other campaign materials, such as flyers and T-shirts.
- Support the national groups to inflate and deflate the prop before and after their stunts and secure the materials back into the van.
- The logistics coordinator will be responsible for a number of administrative tasks, incl. van rental
(further details available on request).
Selection criteria
- Good English level. Other European languages are a plus.
- Demonstrable experience as a logistics coordinator for events, productions, tours, etc
- Ability to drive long stretches of road independently and safely, and to plan accordingly for such journeys.
- Willingness to travel for a period of up to 6 weeks.
- Ability to invoice.
- Quoted amount/required budget will NOT be the sole selection factor. We encourage you to set your daily rate at an amount that reflects your skill level and experience.
Fees
We ask you to provide us with a quote stating your daily rate, comprised between 200 and 300 euros (excl. VAT) per day.
Practical information
- The logistics coordinator will receive training from the company that produces the inflatable statue to learn how to inflate, deflate and handle it.
- Gas and toll will be paid via expense claims.
- Accommodation will be booked and expensed directly to FoEE.
- Per Diem is 50€/day and accounts for food.
- Partial advance payment is possible.
Working days and rest days
Because of the nature of the project, we expect short work outbursts of a few days followed by rest weekends or even full weeks off. However, we do appreciate that the logistician, in those « off » days, remains unavailable for other contracts and therefore we offer to pay :
- 5 days / week (any week including at least two worked days days will be considered as a full week, triggering full payment)
- Any worked weekend day
- « Off » weeks at a 60% daily rate
- In the case of a week where a single day is worked, that day will be paid at 100% rate and the rest at 60%.
Profile, diversity and inclusion
FoEE actively welcomes candidates of all descriptions, regardless of age, sexual orientation, marital status, wealth, religious, philosophical or political beliefs, language, present or future state of health, disability, physical or genetic characteristics, gender, pregnancy, parental status, change of sex, nationality, race, skin colour, ancestry, nationality, descent, national or ethnic or social origin.
