Friends of the Earth Europe is looking for a consultant for team building for its Coordination and Management Team
Deadline: 22 May 2022
Based in: Friends of the Earth Europe, Brussels
Background
Friends of the Earth Europe (FoEE) campaigns at the heart of Europe for sustainable and just societies and for the protection of the environment. We are the largest grassroots environmental network in Europe, uniting 32 national organisations with thousands of local groups as part of Friends of the Earth International. Our vision is of a peaceful and sustainable world, founded on social, economic, racial, gender and environmental justice and free from all forms of domination and exploitation.
FoEE is an ASBL with a General Assembly as the ultimate decision-making body that elects the Executive Committee (ExCom) to perform whatever shall be necessary for the realisation of the objectives. The ExCom delegates powers and detailed duties to the Director and the Head of Operations.
In addition, there is also the Coordination and Management Team (CMT). Its members are the Director, Head of Operations and four Programme Coordinators. Governed by its own terms of reference, the purpose of the CMT is to enable good coordination among programmes and campaigns and other teams/functions and support the Director in strategic decision-making, the management of the FoEE office and the coordination of the FoEE Network. The CMT is accountable
to the ExCom through the Director.
Several CMT members have been at FoEE and in their roles for quite some time and two others joined during the pandemic, meaning the current team started working together in Spring 2021. All CMT members manage teams which have three to six members. They have not had much opportunity to meet in person and do actual team building and leadership and management training.
The task for the consultant
FoEE is looking for a consultant to work with the CMT and apply the model “The Five Dysfunctions of a Team” by Patrick Lencioni to build the team, support it to establish ways of working to fulfil its mission and ensure “the true measure of a team is that it accomplishes the results that it sets out to achieve”. (Lencioni, Patrick; 2005: “Overcoming the Five Dysfunctions of a Team, page 7).
An in-person CMT away day is held on 4th and 5th July 2022 which the consultant should attend and work with the CMT on applying the model to the team to help it get a clear understanding of any dysfunctionalities and agree actions to address and overcome them and make relevant changes. The actual change process, i.e. the practicing, learning, development, accountability and reflection to ensure CMT members achieve the agreed change, needs to be an important part of the action plan, as this is a vital component in ensuring successful change.
Should it not be possible to establish a detailed action plan during those two days, CMT must have at least agreed on the timeline and development of the action plan. The consultant is invited to reflect on and propose a role they could play in the change process.
Please provide:
- your offer detailing a proposal for the two-day workshop
- your potential role in supporting CMT to implement the change process
- your relevant experience in using Lencioni’s model for teams
- your financial offer
