The European Commission wants to loosen our protections against pesticides, putting people and nature at serious risk. Under their proposal, most pesticides would receive lifetime approval, ending the current requirement to check their safety every 10 to 15 years.
This is not an abstract policy debate. It poisons the food we eat, the water we drink, and the air rural communities breathe. It harms farmers and farm workers, who already face the highest exposure. It endangers children, who are especially vulnerable to toxic chemicals. And it kills bees, pollinators, and birds that are already disappearing at an alarming rate.
We can do better. We can build a food system that protects health, supports farmers, and works with nature, instead of putting them at risk.
Now is the moment to act. Member States and the European Parliament will soon decide whether these dangerous changes move forward. Let them know you don’t want lifetime pesticide approvals. Let them know you support real protection of our health, water, and environment.
