The war on Ukraine is being exploited by agro-industry lobbies to push for the rolling back of European Green Deal objectives. With more than 50 civil society organisations, we urge the European Commission to:
- Not postpone the much–needed reform of the Sustainable Use of Pesticides Directive (SUD);
- Ensure that the reform is ambitious enough and contains strong legally binding use reduction targets and other provisions in line with the civil society joint statement on the revision of the SUD and ensuring that farmers are supported in this transition.
- Ensure that all EU food and feed safety standards are upheld
- Stand by its commitment to the Farm to Fork and Biodiversity Strategies and transitioning away from our current agricultural model and its reliance on external inputs.
